NCS gives thousands of young people across England the chance to meet other young people from all backgrounds and tackle outdoor challenges on an exciting residential week away from home. They also join with local businesses and social leaders to learn new skills for work and life and discover more about their area through delivering local volunteering projects that matter to them.
NCS takes place over several weeks (out of school time) in spring, summer or autumn. It features a short time away from home and a project in the local community. A focus on social mixing, regular guided reflection and social action projects led by young people makes NCS a unique and fulfilling experience.
The EBP is the NCS Regional Delivery Partner for the EM1 region of the East Midlands, with programmes running in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. Working with local delivery partners across the NCS EM1 region, more than 22,000 15 to 17 year olds from our four counties have added NCS to their CVs since 2011 and between them, have carried out over 660,000 hours of social action in their local communities.
