Following investment from The Careers & Enterprise Company, we are delighted to expand our employer mentoring programme to work with looked-after children (young people in care) in years 8, 9 and 10, who are at risk of disengaging and dropping out of school.
Mission Mentor is a 1:1 employer mentoring programme forming part of an initiative targeting more than 20,000 pupils across the country who have been identified as ‘hard to reach’ individuals.
The programme will allow young people to benefit from supportive relationships with mentors from a variety of businesses and organisations, inspiring them to strive for a more positive future. Young people and business mentors will be matched based on their personal characteristics and compatibility. Mentors will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from our skilled young people’s team so they are prepared for the journey ahead.
Benefits of mentoring
An encouraging role model can have a profound effect on a young person’s self-esteem and aspirations. Lincolnshire business representatives can make a huge difference by offering a small amount of their time to mentoring.
As a mentor you will be asked to pledge a minimum of one hour per month to your mentee. A relatively small commitment but one that can have a significant impact on a young person’s future.
